When I was in Geneva, I saw a great retrospective of the artist Franz Erhard Walther. The exhibition, at MAMCO, was in French, so I was stuck looking at the exhibition without any contextual information, which was an interesting exercise.
His work reminds me of color field paintings meshed with Oiticicia's Parangoles

meshed with Erwin Wurm's One Minute Sculptures.
Though incredibly formal, contained, and constructed, these objects are full of potential energy, experience, and movement. The exhibition was structured so that the two first floors were full of his sculptural blanket sets without any contextual information, while the last floor had images of the blanket sets in use. It was interesting, since they look like modernist paintings, to think of painting as full of potential energy, experience, and movement.
